Creating a Brighter Future
The Dream Heart Foundation (DHEF-Uganda) is a non-profit, community-based organisation (CBO) that is dedicated to enhancing the livelihoods of disadvantaged and marginalised communities.
Established in 2019, DHEF-Uganda gained official recognition as a registered charity by the city of Masaka in 2021. Since its conception, the organisation's primary objective is to improve the wellbeing of underprivileged families and their children by promoting community development, education, healthcare and agriculture. DHEF-Uganda is an active member of the Masaka City NGO Forum (MACINGOF), a platform of collaboration to further the potential of DHEF-Uganda, other non-profits and the city of Masaka in advancing societal well-being. Our commitment to this cause is unwavering as demonstrated through the dedication of our volunteers, staff and partners. Through our collective efforts, we strive to bring positive change to those in need within our community.
Our multi-dimensional approach focuses on fostering socio-economic transformation by equipping communities with access to education, seminars on sexual and reproductive health, enhancement of local infrastructure and guidance counselling.
Our projects and activities ensure that disadvantaged groups become empowered, to achieve their full potential generating significant impact that will be beneficial for current and future generations.
Our Background
The Dream Heart Foundation dates back to 2019 when a group of students from Kampala University conducted a comprehensive community survey in Masaka. Their findings presented numerous challenges faced by the local population, including inadequate community support systems, lack of education for orphaned and vulnerable children, and high youth unemployment.
Motivated by the need for change, these students decided to establish a community organisation to address these pressing issues. The initial project operations commenced in the village of Kimaanya, focusing on supplying scholastic materials to vulnerable children, engaging in community outreach, providing counselling and guidance, distributing sanitary pads to adolescent girls, and teaching them how to produce them.
Over time, the organisation's impact grew, attracting over 30 members and 20 volunteers by 2020. Responding to administrative recommendations after the organisation's registration in 2021, the organisation transitioned from Dream Kings Foundation to Dream Heart Foundation due to name similarities. This name change was officially acknowledged, and in July 2022, the organisation was incorporated as a company limited by guarantee, reaffirming its non-profit status.
